Bright Star passes

Postby Dave Swiger » Fri Feb 15, 2008 9:47 am

It is with great sadness that I inform all that my friend and band mate Dave Miner passed away last night. Dave was one of the brightest, up and coming stars on the Dobro scene. Having tudored with Mike Auldridge, Dave went on to record with Dave Evans on his "Pretty Green Fields" album and most recently with Bill Emerson's, Sweet Dixie band. He will be sadly missed by all of us.

Dear Friends and Family;

We are deeply saddened this day to inform you that David Miner has passed away. He reportedly suffered a massive heart attack just before midnight, last evening. There are few confirmed details to share at this time and as we become aware of any arrangements, we will be sure to post those either in a follow-up newsletter or on our website.

David Miner has played dobro and sang baritone with FLINT HOLLOW for over two years. His first performance with the band was at the First Night Celebration in Leesburg on December 31, 2005. He recorded with the band for our debut, self-titled album. The wonderful music that Dave created on stage and within his own compositions was inspirational to all of us within the band. His musical ability and professionalism were matched by his friendship and dedication to the band, his friends, and family. He will be sorely missed.

Please keep Dave's family and those closest to him in your thoughts and prayers today.

Sincerely,

Vince Diem, Flint Hollow

Folks, Our banjo picker, Chris Athey has put together a tribuite to Dave. Go to our website and click on the video and hear Dave play one of his own pieces called "lover". This will give you some idea of the caliber of player he was.
